Julie Purcell – multidisciplinary artist trained in graphic design and fine art and employs both skill sets in her hands-on creative practice. A graduate of Queensland College of Art she now exhibits and makes art in her hometown of Redcliffe, outback Queensland and beyond.
When I was a kid, We didn’t go camping. Instead, we went west to visit Grandad at his Beeboproperty in the GoondiwindiShire. Grandad was always dressed in pale blue overalls, so for me each glimpse of blue in sky, water or structure brings to mind his favourite workwear. I honour his legacy in the landscape by framing my paintings with stakes from the native tree plantation my family created after his passing. Nowadays, routine visits to check the plantation are aided by the buggy ”, a homemade go-kart which doubles as my easel when painting Plein Air” … (Painting outdoors)
