Event Details

LOCAL Artist Julie Purcell AND A MEMBER OF MORTEN BAY ARTS COUNCIL invites you to visit her exhibition opening Saturday 9th September at 1pm at the Old Redcliffe Fire Station Gallery 395 Oxley Ave Redcliffe (exhibition on show from 6th Sept to 1st October)

Julie Purcell combines graphic design training with fine art skills to create unique artworks that highlight the spontaneous effects of oil paint. Through her experimental approach, she aims to challenge viewer complacency by incorporating disruptions such as projecting elements, void spaces, and irregularly shaped frames. As a child of the 80’s, late twentieth century video games inform Purcell’s distinctive rendering style. In some ways, this early home entertainment influence shapes not only her artistic process but also her understanding of human nature and the world around her.

Purcell holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) from the Queensland College of Art and is an active member of Moreton Bay Arts Council and the Redcliffe Art Society. Her artwork has gained recognition, including her first touring solo exhibition titled “Beebo Blues,” which was showcased across three regional Queensland districts. Additionally, her work has been featured in notable events and awards such as the Moreton Bay Regional Council’s “15 Artists” annual prize, the “Moreton Bay Region Art Award,” and the exhibition “Fresh Eyes: Recent Landscapes of the Moreton Bay Region.”
